Playa Venao is on the Azuero Peninsula’s and is said to be the best surfing in this area. It's a pretty little cove shaped bay with a beach break. Bigger and dumpier waves are to one end of the cove and as you go down the beach they get smaller.
I stuck to the middle of the bay and towards the end of the week we had a great swell, little wind and perfect clean fun waves. With waves breaking in both directions, that are perfect for every skill level, it was the most fun I've had on a beach break!
We also got very lucky with the conditions and the line up wasn’t crowded. There was a nice mix of locals and tourists who were all very friendly out in the line up. We had some beautiful sunset surf session here. At present, this area is relatively undeveloped, but it is beginning to see a boom of projects as the word gets out about its laid-back vibe and awesome surf. The town itself isn’t big with just a handful of places to eat. There's also yoga on the beach at one of the hostels if you fancy that.Other activities like horse riding, hikes and trips to nearby beaches are also on offer.
